We are asking for everyone to donate, both men & women. Just a nickel in the morning & a nickel, at night, that’s ten cents a day, 36.50 a year. We aren’t asking for a lot just a few cents that you can collect everyday with your loose change.

Our Summer Picnic will be held at Westland Moose on Aug 7- 2:00PM- 6:00PM. It is a free picnic & potluck. Westland will be providing burgers, brats, & hot dogs, just bring a dish to pass & let’s have fun. Open to all Legionnaire’s & they guest. The Executive board meeting at Noon, with Conferral at 1:00PM.

I'd like to give everyone an update regarding our recycling fundraiser with TerraCycle that benefits MooseHeart ~

We have sent our first shipment of chip bags as of July 19th - the count was 250!!
Terracycle will be paying 5x for the first 25 units of waste they receive !!

Next I will be sending the drink pouches in that counted out at 55 - although this is not enough to credit but better than sending to the landfill; they will still be processed into new reusable items.

Candy wrappers has topped out to a total of 7 and can not be sent in unless we have a couple hundred more.

Since the chip bags has been the most plentiful - we are going to stick with just the chip bag brigade. I received conformation that requires 100 units for a shipment of chip bags but the more the better.

FYI - 5 countries are collecting waste and more than 1.9 billion pieces of trash have been diverted into new productive uses!

Please remember ANY SIZE - ANY BRAND CHIP OR PRETZEL BAGS

there is a box in the lodge for this and I come by about once a week to collect.

At last convention (Frankenmuth) we learned of the TerraCycle recycle program. Our board approved of us collecting for a few of the brigades.

Mooseheart gets $.02 for each piece of trach we send to TerraCycle. The brigades we have elected are

#1- chip bags THEY CAN BE ANY BRAND AND ANY SIZE-CHIPS OR PRETZELS!!!! YEAYYYY!!!!!

We NEED 500 before we can ship them. Last count as of 6/25 was 125 and I am confident in our membership that we can make this happen.
TerraCycle currently receives 1.5 million chip bags per week.

#2- drink pouches Honest kids or Capri sun - 500 per shipment as well -

#3- candy wrappers - Mars Wrigley & Cadbury products (so far I have 3 pieces)

Anyone can log onto TerraCycle and see what all they collect - the things that are being made from trash is unbeleiveable - NO DOUBT INSPIRING!!!

It is my hopes to get some of these great things to show at the lodge - for all to see what they do with this stuff and although it may not pay alot - it helps our Earth and our children who get the money for our efforts.

There are many, many things that they collect that we could raise funds for Mooseheart but we thought this was a start and the possibilities are endless!!!!

You would have to see the website to believe it but things like butter containers - plastic milk bottles - Elmers glue bottles- the list is crazy good!!!! All things we have already spent money on - when they empty- shipping is free - ship them to TerraCycle - and Mooseheart gets paid!!!

We love this idea!! Who can't love this?
Now if anyone can come up with a way to recycle them blasted pull tabs - I will be all ears.
